Benefits of ADHD Coaching: How it can transform your life

Angry. Lonely. Frustrated. Stuck.  These are the words I hear most often when speaking with a client with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  Imagine trying to build success when this is how you are feeling.  This is the reality for many people diagnosed or undiagnosed with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.  Every day feels like Groundhog’s Day-they set the expectation that today will be a better day-but it ends the same with a pile of things to do and no motivation or system to get them completed.  But there is an answer, ADHD coaching.  When you have read all the books, watched the videos on brain hacks and attended seminars on time management but nothing has changed, it is a good time to think about ADHD coaching.  An ADHD coach can help you develop a personal plan for success and provide the support and guidance necessary to reach your goals.  An ADHD coach will also hold you accountable in a positive way to remain focused on your goals and follow through with the new techniques that are introduced.

Following are some of the benefits you can expect from ADHD Coaching:

  1. You will spend time identifying your strengths and use those strengths to build your future. Everyone has strengths, but many times those strengths are overlooked because of the behaviors associated with ADHD.  Your ADHD coach will help you identify your personal strengths.
  2. You will learn how to manage your ADHD symptoms and behaviors. There are a variety of techniques available, you need to spend time trying different techniques and identifying which ones work best for you.  Techniques can also be modified to meet your specific needs.  We all know that doing things differently can be hard; your ADHD coach will help with that.  You can expect encouragement through the journey and someone who understands just how challenging this is.
  3. You will work to achieve your full potential. If you are in school, forgetting to hand in assignments that have been completed or not being able to focus are likely reducing your grade point average.  Difficulty meeting deadlines or challenges with emotional regulation will interfere with your ability to get promoted at work.  ADHD coaching will provide you with the tools to manage those challenges so that you can pursue your dreams.
  4. You will save time and mental energy. Your ADHD coach will help you focus your efforts on those areas that you have identified as priorities, and if this area is a challenge, assistance with this process will be provided.  Your ADHD coach will also introduce techniques to manage frustration and other negative emotions that steal your energy and focus.
  5. You will see yourself “working your plan.” Your ADHD coach will work with you to develop the plan and keep you accountable for that plan.  Guidance on managing setbacks as well as identifying motivators will be addressed with your ADHD coach.
